In this post, we'll unpack the concept of place value and how to go about answering maths questions on place value. Place value refers to the value of each digit in a number. For example, the 7 in 370 represents 7 tens, or 70; however, the 7 in 7,006 represents 7 thousands, or 7,000. It is very important that to realize that whilst a digit can be the same, its value depends on where it is in the number!
